Threat of deception causes Thurgood Marshall HS in Dayton to take shelter in place

Dayton Public Schools said on social media On Tuesday, when Thurgood Marshall High School was placed in a short-term “shelter in place” situation for approximately 11 minutes on Tuesday afternoon following a false 911 call reporting a shooting at the school.

The police responded immediately and discovered that the call was a hoax.

During a fake 911 call to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the caller said that a white student brought a gun into the school and shot and killed four students.

Shelter-in-place meant that students and staff were ordered to stay in classrooms while police ransacked the school. Shelter in place began at 12:04 p.m. and was removed at 12:15 p.m.

Also Tuesday, Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded to Kenton Ridge High School after a false report of a shooting.
