Three injured in Springfield propane tank explosion

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Three people were injured Tuesday morning when a propane tank exploded at a construction site in Springfield.

A fire at a construction site on Home Road on Tuesday, March 21, led to traffic diversions and delays, according to the City of Springfield Schools. The school said that there is no danger to nearby buildings, and students continue to study.

Crews on the scene said workers were carrying a 2,000-gallon propane tank when they dropped it. The explosion damaged at least two buildings and several nearby cars. Crews are still evaluating other buildings in the area.

Two people were taken to a Miami Valley hospital with burns, while a third was treated on the spot and released. All injuries were not life-threatening.

This incident is still under investigation by the Borough Fire Chief and the Springfield Police Department.
