MP Pasco shot and killed a man who threatened suicide

The agency said a Pasco County sheriff’s deputy on Tuesday shot and killed a man who made a suicide threat and received a gunshot wound.

At around 6:20 p.m., a deputy answered a call about a suicide attempt in Trinity’s Fox Wood neighborhood, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputies said that a shot was heard in the house, and the man deliberately shot himself.

The deputy confronted the man “and then opened fire at the entrance,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. The man was treated at the scene and taken to the nearest hospital.

The deputies did not report on the condition of the man on Tuesday evening, nor on who shot at him, nor on any other details.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting based on an agreement between the agencies. The deputy who shot the man is on scheduled leave while the shooting is being investigated.
