More North Texas school districts decided to close schools and switch to virtual learning due to rising number of Covid-19 cases

North Texas – As we already reported yesterday, several North Texas area school districts closed schools and switched to virtual learning since the beginning of the week as a result of the rising number of Covid-19 cases affecting both students and school personnel.

The major problem for schools to remain operational recently is the rising number of positive cases among teachers and school administration workers. In the last two weeks, school districts are not even able to cover classes with substitute teachers.

Larger districts like Mansfield ISD are only closing campuses severely impacted by the virus, but some school districts decided to close all of the schools within the districts.

Mansfield ISD announced Wednesday that six elementary schools would be closed Jan. 13-18: Janet Brockett, Louise Cabaniss, Judy Miller, Martha Reid, Tarver Rendon, and Roberta Tipps.

The majority of the school districts decided to switch to virtual learning before the weekend mostly because Monday is Martin Luther King holiday which will add one additional day off in an effort to slow down the spread of the virus.
