Watauga resident claims Texas Lottery prize for $1 million

The winner picked up their ticket at a Fort Worth grocery store.

WATAUGA, Texas — Do you know someone in Watauga that stopped by an Albertsons store in Fort Worth recently? If so, you might want to ask if they picked up an extra million dollars lately.

The Texas Lottery says a resident from Watauga claimed their Texas Two Step prize worth $1.025 million on September 26. They got their winning ticket at the Albertsons on Western Center Boulevard and North Beach Street.

Understandably, the winner decided to remain anonymous.

The winning Quick Pick ticket match all four of the white ball numbers drawn (10-14-25-34) and the Bonus Ball (20). Texas Lottery says the odds of getting the jackpot is one out of 32.4.

The big Two Step prize starts at $200,000 and it keeps going up until there’s a winner. Outside of the million-dollar grand prize, about 30 people matched the white ball numbers and won a little over $1,000 each.

The 73 people that got the Bonus Ball and three matching numbers got $51 each, then the prize money dwindles down from there.

In September, the Texas Lottery announced it had broken its all-time sales record for the 12th year in a row.

The lottery achieved $8.297 billion in sales in the fiscal year 2022. That’s an increase of $189.7 million, or 2.3%, over the fiscal year 2021. According to Texas Lottery, that resulted in a record total contribution of $1.998 billion for Texas education and veterans.

If you wanna try your chances in the next lottery, pick up a ticket by 10:02 p.m on Mondays or Thursdays. Be ready for the numbers to be drawn by 10:12 that same night.
