On Monday morning, zoo officials contacted Dallas police after their animal care team said the monkey pen had been cut open and two monkeys were missing, the latest in a series of missing or dead incidents at the zoo. animals.

“It was clear that the habitat had been deliberately disturbed,” the police said in a statement. “Imperial tamarin monkeys are likely to stay close to home – the zoo looked for them near their habitat and on zoo grounds, but didn’t find them.”

An investigation was launched last week into the “suspicious” death of a vulture named Pin, who was found dead in his enclosure under “unusual circumstances,” Dallas police said in a statement to CBS DFW.
