Toledo man dies in motorcycle crash, officials say

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTVG) – A man died after a motorcycle accident Sunday.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred in the town of Frenchtown on Pointe au Po Road on Sunday just after midnight.

Joseph Hoag Sr., 34, of Toledo, was driving west on Pointe aux Pau Road when he missed a turn and lost control of his motorcycle, officials said.

Officers said Hoag went left of center, went off the roadway and hit a tree and a pole.

Hoag was separated from his car and found lying on the ground next to his motorcycle, officials said.

Police said Hoag was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was still being investigated, but speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. The officers also stated that Hoag was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
