Timeline of events related to the disappearance of Ana Walsh

 

Ana Walsh, a 39-year-old mother from Cohasset, has not been seen since the start of the New Year. Her husband, Brian Walsh, is currently facing charges of misleading the investigation into her disappearance.

Search crews have not yet been able to trace Ana’s whereabouts, but items related to her disappearance were reportedly found during a search of the transfer station in Peabody, including a hacksaw and a rug that are believed to contain biological evidence, the sources said.

Brian Walsh told police that Ana had to drive to Logan Airport on New Year’s Day to fly to Washington, D.C., where she has a home. Police said there was no evidence that Ana took a taxi or boarded any flight.

The following is a timeline of events that have taken place so far as the investigation into her disappearance continues:

Thursday, January 5, 2023 — Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley says the Cohasset Police Department is asking the public for help in finding Ana Walsh.

Friday, January 6, 2023 — The State Police Special Emergency Response Team and the local regional police team begin to search the area adjacent to Chief Justice Cushing Highway looking for evidence in the case.

Friday, January 6, 2023 — Firefighters fought the fire at Ana’s former home at 725 Jerusalem Street. The fire was ruled not suspicious.

Saturday, January 7, 2023 — A ground search in the Walsh home area ended as 20 troops from the MSP’s Special Emergency Response Team, three K9 teams and a state police air wing searched the area around the Walsh home, state police said. Investigators also drained the pool at Walsh’s home and searched a nearby stream.

Sunday, January 8, 2023 — Ana’s search has shifted to the nation’s capital, where she works as a real estate professional and owns a second home in Washington, DC.

Sunday 8 January 2023 — Brian Walsh, 46, of Cohasset, was arrested and charged with misleading the investigation into Ana’s disappearance after detectives ransacked the house he shared with her and three young children.

Monday, January 9, 2023 — Brian Walsh appeared in Quincy County Court, and prosecutors announced the discovery of a bloody knife in Ana’s basement. He was ordered to be held on $500,000 bail.

Monday, January 9, 2023 — A law enforcement source has confirmed that an active search of the Republican Service garbage collection facility at 300 Forest Street in Peabody is also linked to the disappearance of Ana Walsh. 25 Investigates learned that investigators seized two 48-foot garbage trucks from Shawn Harris Enterprises of Cohasset over the weekend.

Monday, January 9, 2023 – Boston 25 learned of a recent letter Ana Walsh sent to a federal judge in June 2022 on behalf of her husband Brian Walsh. Ana supported her husband ahead of his sentencing while he was under house arrest on federal charges brought in 2018.

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 — The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office announced the discovery of “a number of items” following a search of Republican Services in Peabody. A source told Boston 25 that the items are related to Ana Walsh.

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 — Multiple sources tell 25 Investigates that cutting tools, including a hacksaw and carpet, believed to contain biological evidence, have been found by police investigating the disappearance of Ana Walsh, a Cohasset mother of three.

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 — Investigators said the search and cleaning of the family’s home in Cohasset was completed in the afternoon and the police left the scene.

Wednesday, January 11, 2023 — State police collected surveillance footage of Brian Walsh near the dumpster of Swampscott liquor store on the day his wife disappeared, sources told Boston 25 News.

Wednesday, January 11, 2023 — 25 Investigators learned that the sale of Anne Walsh’s Revere condominium was entered into the Suffolk County Deal Registry on 29 December. Authorities say Walsh, a real estate agent, went missing from his home in Cohasset around or January 2nd.

Wednesday, January 11, 2023 — Two friends of Ana Walsh file a complaint with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Family Affairs about the missing mother’s three sons. They said they were concerned that the children could potentially be separated on top of what they had already been through in the last 11 days.

Thursday, January 12, 2023 — Religious leaders in the city of Cohasset held a vigil in the city to bring the community together to pray for Anu and her family after a difficult week.

Thursday, January 12, 2023 – A police report obtained by Boston 25 reporter Bob Ward reveals serious relationship problems before Ana and Brian were engaged. According to this public account of the incident, Ana Knipp (her maiden name) told D.C. police that Brian Walsh “made a statement over the phone that he was going to kill her and her friends.” Ana never cooperated with the D.C. police, Brian Walsh was never charged and the case was dropped.

Friday, January 13, 2023 — 25 investigators have learned that search warrants relating to the disappearance of Ana Walsh have been returned to Quincy County Court. The orders have been confiscated.

Sunday, January 15, 2023 — The Cohasset Police Department released a photo of Brian Walsh taken last week when he was arrested for misleading the police in connection with the suspicious disappearance of his wife.

Ana Walsh told DC police that Brian Walsh threatened to kill her back in 2014.
