The best day ever! Every Sherman ISD employee received $2,000 checks for the holidays

Texas – The most positive news we heard is most probably coming from Grayson County where every employee with the Sherman ISD received $2,000 ahead of the holiday season.

Teachers and staff in the Sherman ISD in Grayson County still can’t believe what happened the other day; a day some call “the best day ever!”

As multiple sources already reported, the Sherman ISD administration and board members visited every single school within the district and went classroom by classroom giving all the teachers and employees $2,000 checks just in time for the holidays.

“They told me to open the envelope right then, so I did,” said first-grade teacher Katie Hensarling in a news release. “And I was floored. It was such a surprise. I really wasn’t expecting it. I feel so appreciated to be given something like that unexpectedly.”

According to the school districts, more than 1,200 employees within the district including teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers and other staff members received their checks.

The total cost of the project is valued at $2.4 million and it was sponsored by the federal Covid-19 relief funds.

“Our employees do their very best for our children, and it was important to the board and the administration that we honor those efforts in this way,” said Superintendent David Hicks.
