Team Behind Old Town’s Tahona Bar & Restaurant To Open Agave-Fueled Bottle Shop In South San Diego

September 30, 2022

The team behind Tahona in Old Town and Wormwood restaurant in North Park is bringing a new agave-fueled bottle shop to San Diego’s South County.

Under his Be Saha Hospitality Group, Amar Harrag opened mezcal-focused Tahona bar & restaurant in San Diego’s Old Town in fall 2018. A native of France and graduate of University of San Diego, Harrag also co-owns numerous locations of Matisse Bistro in San Diego and Irvine. He also operates Hidden Craft self-serve beer bar and restaurant in downtown San Diego, Wormwood absinthe bar and French bistro in North Park/Normal Heights, runs real estate brokerage Allied Green Realty, and is in the process of opening Botanica, an incoming NFT art gallery, Spanish restaurant and gin bar unveiling later this year in North Park. In addition to founding the San Diego chapter of Corazon de Vida, Harrag sits on the board of directors for Create Purpose, and both non-profits aid orphaned and abandoned children in Mexico.
Harrag’s newest project is the opening of Tahona Mercado in a 600 square-foot space on the base floor of the newly-built Parco mixed-use development in San Diego’s National City. Like other branches of the concept in downtown Tijuana and Ensenada, the market & bottle shop concept will sell a large variety of rare and hard to find mezcals, tequilas, cocktail products and other specialty items sourced from Mexico. The space will also frequently host tastings and educational events.
Tahona Mercado is anticipated to open in early 2023 at 802 B Avenue in San Diego’s South County community of National City. For more information, visit tahonastore.com.
