Spring break revelers flee as Miami Beach shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
March 18 (UPI) — Police said a shooting in South Beach, Florida late Friday night left one dead and another in critical condition in an incident that prompted spring break revelers and Day St. Patrick’s to flee the scene.
The Miami Beach Police Department stated that they answered to the shooting around 22:40 and found two wounded men.
Eyewitnesses filmed the victim lying face down in the street and an officer performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on another shooting victim.
“Both men were taken to the Ryder Trauma Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital,” Miami Beach police said. tweeted. “One of the men died in hospital and the other is in critical condition. Officers detained one man and seized three firearms on the spot.”
Hundreds of people were in the area of the shooting, according to local news. making report that the tables were turned over in a hurry to get away from the scene.
In a message posted to Twitter on Saturday, police said the man was in custody and was cooperating with the investigation.
“Miami Beach Police have one man in custody who is cooperating fully with the investigation and was able to recover four firearms from the scene,” they said. “The MBPD confirmed that this was an isolated incident.”
Police said the identities of all parties could not be released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
