Second man arrested on charges of Whitehaven living room shooting that left 10 injured and one dead

A second person has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a nightclub shooting on Sunday morning that left 10 people injured and one dead.

The Memphis Police Department said 21-year-old Ladarius Marion pulled the trigger on the rifle that was fired. He was also charged with five counts of attempted murder in the second degree and five counts of using a weapon during a dangerous felony.

Early Sunday morning around 00:40, Memphis police responded to the shooting at the Live Lounge in Whitehaven. At the time of the arrival of law enforcement officers at the scene, two women were found in serious condition.

The officers then arrived at another location, in Shelby and Boeingshire, where a car with four people was found. Three people were taken to the regional hospital in critical condition, one man died at the scene.

Five more people were taken to various hospitals, MPD public relations officer Sgt. Louis Brownlee said.

According to Brownlee, the man declared dead was 23 years old. The injured women were 21, 18, 25 and 22 years old, while the men were 25, 19, 24, 30, 25 and 22 years old.

Five victims who were admitted to the hospital in a non-critical condition have been discharged, but five in critical condition remain in hospitals.

Julius Michael Freeman, also 21, turned himself in to police on Monday morning, and police said he was the one who gave Marion the rifle. According to the arrest statement, Freeman also told police that he had left the living room in a car.

Freeman is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
