‘Rise of the Guardians’ to be shown at Frontier Texas! Oct. 22

Tickets are being sold online through Oct. 17.

ABILENE, Texas — The 2012 Dreamworks movie ‘Rise of the Guardians’ features the adventures of Santa Claus and other fantasy characters based on a book by William Joyce.

The film is being shown at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Frontier Texas! as part of “A Night with the Guardians” and tickets are on sale now through Oct. 17.

There are limestone pillars at the New Cultural District that are being celebrated during the evening, and these pillars were made possible by the Texas Commission of the Arts along with private donations.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 per family with popcorn and water or $35 for a patron event with refreshments and crafts. Costume characters will be in attendance, as well.

It is encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and food and a food truck will also be on location.

Along with the pillars, there is also an 8-foot stone to welcome people. Each of the pillars says “Cultural District” on the side and they are located on N. 5th and Orange streets, N. 1st and Hickory streets, Pine and N. 7th streets and across from Frontier Texas!

A grant for $129, 654 was given to the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council by the Texas Commission of the Arts as part of the “Be Our Guest” project to promote tourism in the area.

The showing of ‘Rise of the Guardians’ is just one way to increase local foot traffic and tickets are available at abilenecac.org.
