Rapper Flo Rida won an $82 million lawsuit against energy drink maker Celsius.

A Florida jury has ruled in favor of rapper Flo Rida’s lawsuit against Celsius energy drinks and awarded him $82.6 million in damages.

On Wednesday, a jury found Celsius guilty of violating an endorsement agreement with Flo Rida that ran from 2014 to 2018. The jury also found that the brand had fraudulently withheld information from him.

In a statement, Flo Rida, whose legal name is Tramar Dillard, thanked the jury, the judge and his lawyers and said he had gained “a new respect for the judiciary.”

“It was a long road, but we won. From the very beginning, I only wanted what I worked for, nothing more, nothing less,” he said in a statement, adding that he “influenced the Celsius you know and love today.”

The rapper, known for songs like “Right Round” and “Whistle”, filed a lawsuit in 2021 and claimed that Celsius owed him millions in additional shares and royalties from the terms of their deals.

During closing arguments, Flo Rida’s lawyer John Wustal said that his client was not asking for a specific dollar amount in his lawsuit, but a promised 1% ownership.

In a separate statement, Uustal said he and his client relied on jurors to resolve “difficult legal issues” related to the case.
