Police are investigating the arson attack at a Wake County kindergarten that has been charged with sexual assault.

Police are investigating an arson incident at Wendell Kindergarten after someone threw a Molotov cocktail into the building on Tuesday evening.

A fire was reported just after 9:30 p.m. at ABC Land Daycare at 610 Raymond Drive, according to police. According to investigators, “there was a bottle with a flammable chemical near the building.”

According to police, the building received minor damage.

Earlier this month, several parents alleged that an ABC Land daycare worker raped their children.

According to the statement, although no charges were filed, Wendell Police referred the investigation to the State Bureau of Investigation.

Wendell Police Capt. John Slaughter has confirmed that the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse at the daycare center is ongoing.

However, Slaughter said he could not confirm a link between the arson and the sexual assault allegations.

Slaughter said police have stepped up security at the daycare.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the sergeant. Todd Williams of Wendell Police at 919-355-4297.
