Pike County – Former Picketon Officer Charged with Official Theft and Impersonating an Officer

PIKE – Pike County Assistant Attorney Michael A. Davis reports that during the November 18 Grand Jury meeting, the Pike County Grand Jury returned a seven-count indictment involving:

Cassandra Meinert Waverly, Ohio Charges:

Office theft: RC 2921.41(A)(1) – Felony 5

Theft: RC 2913.02(A)(3) Misd 1

Posing as an officer: RC 2913.44 – Misd 1

Theft: RC 2913.02(A)(3) – Misd 1

Posing as an officer: RC 2913.44 – Misd 1

Theft: RC 2913.02(A)(3) – Misd 1

Ms. Meinert was working as a Picketon police officer at the time of the allegations contained in count 1 of the indictment. Ms. Meinert’s employment with the Picketon Police Department was terminated. Subsequently, she allegedly posed as a peace officer in order to commit theft, which are the allegations contained in counts 2-7 of the indictment.

Ms. Meinert appeared before Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Randy Dearing, where she pleaded not guilty and received bail in the operating room. Ms Meinert was appointed counsel and her case was referred to pre-trial hearing.

As always, all defendants indicted by a grand jury are innocent until proven guilty.
