Officers find stolen cars, packages and more from an empty building in South Lake Union.

Seattle police are investigating after finding stolen cars, bikes and more in an empty building in South Lake Union on Tuesday morning, according to SPD Blotter.

Officers were on patrol around 4:45 a.m. when they saw a running car parked in a building under construction near Roy Street and Westlake Avenue North. According to the report, police received previous reports of property theft in the area and have launched an investigation.

As the police got closer to the building, they saw a man in the garage holding a chain to open the garage door. According to SPD, the man spotted the policemen, let go of the chain and closed the door.

Officers confirmed the property was owned by the Seattle Department of Transportation and was believed to be vacant.

When the police broke into the garage, they found three cars inside. One was a stolen van and the other was a stolen truck, both taken apart. The police heard footsteps on the rooftop and launched an investigation, but found no one.

Along with the stolen cars, the police found tents set up in the garage.

According to the report, they also found villager packs, bicycles, a crossbow, collectible trading cards, figurines, a violin, a saxophone, and weapon accessories.
