‘None of this fits’: Family wants answers after Ohio man fatally shot by police

Family members of an Ohio man who they say was fatally shot by police while cleaning his late grandmother’s house are demanding answers over his death, pending release of footage of the body-worn camera incident.

Joe Frazur, 28, was killed in Wyoming, Ohio early Monday morning by officers who officials said were answering a call about a possible burglary.

Family members said Frasure was at his grandmother’s apartment to clean her up after her recent death.

“It all makes no sense to us,” said Erica Freisur, who is married to Freisur’s half-brother, Joe Frasur Jr. — It was a burglary call. He was where he should have been. None of this fits.”

The Hamilton County Attorney’s Office is expected to release footage from body cameras on Friday, Wyoming Police Chief Brooke Brady said.

Erica Frasure said family members were told they could view the video before it was posted.

Wyoming police said officers answered a call about a possible burglary at an apartment building at 00:37 a.m. Monday and met Frazur and his father at the back of the building.

Frazur “was in a minivan and was refusing to get out,” Brady said in a video message.

“The minibus turned around at high speed before crashing into a tree, after which the vehicle accelerated sharply towards our officers,” the chief said.

According to Brady, the officers fired four shots at the minivan, which was moving towards them.

Frasure was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead and dead on Tuesday evening, according to officials and his family.

According to Erica and Joe Frasur, Jr., Grandma Freysur died in early January, and family members spent the entire Sunday at her apartment.

According to them, Frazur tried to start another relative’s car so that they could leave the territory.

Joe Frasur Jr. and Frasur share the same father and grew up together.

“He was my best friend. He was my brother,” Joe Fraser Jr. said. “All the kids love him and he had this country boy voice,” he said.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.

Among the people who drew attention to the case was prominent civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, who tweeted about it.

Wyoming is a city of approximately 8,700 people in the Cincinnati region, about 12 miles north of downtown.
