NFL Cheat Sheets: Our Latest Look at Kansas City Chiefs Homes

Third time in four seasons Kansas City Chiefs preparing for the Super Bowl.

We’ve previously covered their homes thanks to their performances at football’s premier show in 2020 and 2021, so what else can be said about these AFC overlords’ real estate?

Quarterback MVP Patrick Mahomes hasn’t taken any major steps to add property to its extensive portfolio, but we’ve yet to reveal quite a bit of property when it comes to chiefs’ homes. And with the NFL’s ever-changing lineup of players, there are several new characters in the city that have taken the luxury housing market by storm.

Chief’s Owner Clark Hunt also remained stable in his mansion in the heart of Dallas’ most luxurious neighborhood. But it would be remiss if we forgot to mention where the Hunt family likely stays when they’re in Kansas City: a three-bedroom apartment built right into Arrowhead Stadium:

The rest of the Chiefs have to make do with living quarters outside of the stadium itself. Although they have to commute to work, it is important to strike a balance between work and personal life. Or so we hear. Let’s see where the Chiefs live.

QB Star: Patrick Mahomes

The well-paid Chiefs star is gearing up for his third Super Bowl appearance, and we’ve been chronicling his residencies. He still owns a start-up two-bedroom apartment in Kansas City, Missouri, which he bought as a newcomer in late 2017, although he unsuccessfully tried to sell it in 2019.

He still owns his fancy suburban home with a huge shoe closet.

And as we reported in 2021, he also owns a luxury four-bedroom home in Westlake, Texas for the off-season.

His purchase of an undeveloped piece of land in the protected area of Loch Lloyd right along the state line did not result in a massive mansion. But these things take time. Satellite photographs of the property show that the piece of land has been cleared, but there is no sign of a structure yet.

Head Coach: Andy Reid

It’s an added value clash for Reed in Super Bowl LVII as the Chiefs take on Philadelphia Eagles, a team he managed for 14 seasons. The former Eagles head coach has had much more success in the Midwest and is looking for his second Super Bowl title.

He stayed in the same four-bedroom brick home in Kansas City’s Plaza District that he bought for $2.2 million in early 2013.

Reed also has an off-season home in sunny Southern California that we never covered. Located right on the beach just off Dana Point, the five-bedroom residence looks like the perfect place to get away for the NFL’s head coach’s precious short time.

Reed bought a house in a gated community adjacent to the Pacific Coast Highway for $3,999,000 in August 2006, at the height of his coaching career in Philadelphia.

General Manager: Brett Wych

As the team’s general manager since 2017, Veach has been working hand in hand with Reid to build the Chiefs roster. This will be the third round of HIV in the big game.

He stayed in the same modest four-bedroom home in Lees Summit, Missouri, which he bought in 2016 for an undisclosed sum. Brand new and listed for sale seven years ago for $452,850, the two-story home was billed as “perfect for everyday family activities and special occasion entertainment.”

Tight end Travis Kelsey

Unlike his brother (and the star center of the Philadelphia Eagles) Jason Kelsey, Travis catching All-Pro passes is harder to catch. While Jason owns quite a few properties, Travis only owns one location that we’ve noticed.

The four-bedroom home in Briarcliff West, owned by an LLC incorporated in Ohio (Kelsey’s home state), is the same place we contacted Travis in 2021.

As far as we know, he has not moved or bought any other property. But with a career income of over $60 million, the 10-year veteran has enough cash to spend on a luxury home anywhere his heart desires.

Linebacker Chris Jones

The All-Pro quarterback still owns the same six-bedroom home in Overland Park, Kansas that he bought in September 2020 for $1.85 million. After the Super Bowl, Jones has one year left on his contract with the Chiefs.

He is likely on his way to a well-deserved extension with the team, or perhaps a rich free agent contract elsewhere. In any case, it’s easy to imagine Jones becoming even bigger than his current 9,163-square-foot home.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toni

Purchased in the off-season New York GiantsFlorida sophomore hit a couple of touchdowns for the Chiefs in 2022. After signing a four-year, $13.7 million rookie deal with the Giants in 2021, Tony took some of that cash and bought a six-bedroom mansion. in Douglasville, Georgia for $935,000 in March 2022.

The spacious 6,885-square-foot home was up for sale for $950,000, so Tony made a small deal to build in 2006. Highlights of the gated community in the outer suburbs of Atlanta include an updated kitchen, a private deck next to the main suite, and a large finished basement.

Perhaps Tony will use this spacious basement to set up a recording studio. In addition to his field talents, he is also a rapper known by the pseudonym Yung Joka.

Kicker Harrison Butker

While the life of any NFL player exists today and is gone tomorrow, kickers seem to be the most interchangeable. A couple of bad games, a decisive missed field goal and an unfortunate extra point are all it takes for a team to break the tie.

That’s what makes Butker’s six-year career with the Chiefs relatively fresh. And because he could be relied upon, Butker felt comfortable enough to put down roots in the Kansas City area. In September 2019, a man with a premium toe and a photo-ready eye closed a six-bedroom home in Lees Summit that was listed for sale for $550,000.

Set in a cul-de-sac, the 5,600-square-foot residence includes a three-season veranda, a master bathroom with underfloor heating, and an exit lower level with a second kitchen.

Mecole Hardman Wide Receiver

Back off the injured reserve list, the extraordinarily fast Hardman is looking forward to a stellar performance on the biggest football scene. After the game is over, he will become a free agent and will likely earn a decent salary. He didn’t spend a ton of rookie contract money on his first home, opting for a modest purchase in his home state.

In July 2019, he bought a four-bedroom brick home in Winder, Georgia for $396,000. About halfway between Atlanta and Athens (where he filmed in college) the house sits on 1.46 acres. It has two additional rooms that can be converted into bedrooms, making it very family friendly. There is also a large backyard with a swimming pool.

Depending on where he finds himself in the 2023 season, Hardman will likely add another property to his portfolio.

Wide receiver Marques Valdez-Scantling

Fellow wide receiver Valdes-Scantling joined the Chiefs for the 2022 campaign after four seasons on the frozen tundra with Green Bay Packers.

Despite signing a three-year, $30 million contract to join Kansas City, the lofty goal didn’t quite make it big at the Missouri mansion.

Instead, he bought a relatively simple four-bedroom house in suburban Liberty, Missouri. The four-bedroom residence was listed for sale for $434,900 before Valdez-Scantling bought it for an undisclosed sum in July 2022. A brand new ranch style residence featuring high quality finishes and a large kitchen.

It overlooks open space and has access to the lower level. The photo listing shows the backyard needs some finishing if the recipient hopes to entertain the crowd, but we’re pretty sure he spent the money on a little landscaping.

In addition to his recent purchase in Missouri, the Florida native has two other homes in the Tampa Bay area. He bought a $154,600 renovation in St. Petersburg in 2019 and a $265,000 small three-bedroom home in Tampa in January 2020.
