Netflix Japan is unhappy with worried fans and creatives about their use of artificial intelligence for their latest anime series Dog and Boy.
While technological development is always welcomed and celebrated, it can put people out of work. There was a time when every frame was drawn by hand to create animation. Over time, the development made it possible to do the job cheaper, faster and more efficiently. While this has greatly reduced manufacturing costs and labor, there are fears that man-made technologies will leave people out of work.
In our time, AI has been one such technology that can be considered a modern marvel. It has already found its way into Netflix, but recent use in Netflix Japan has caused concern among fans and creatives alike. There is a good reason behind this as well.
Why are fans upset about the use of AI in Dog and The Boy?
A new short anime film from Netflix. dog and boy Definitely a sweet and touching story. But the making of the film has taken some by surprise. According to Creative Bloq, Netflix Japan took to Twitter to announce how they used AI to create a short film. While they seemed proud of the show’s announcement, this was not well received by fans, who were highly critical of the show’s creators. The reason AI is controversial is because it tends to put people out of work.. In addition to this, AI also allows people to pay less to creatives.
While Netflix has promoted the use of AI as a way to help anime creators, fans seem to think otherwise. Initially, the use of AI was limited to social media posts and human experimentation. But all the background images appear to have been made using AI.
You could help end the deficit by paying them more.

Pay your artists, and then there may not be a shortage of labor. You are a multi-billion dollar company. You can afford it.
Oh wait, your investors are too worried about the line going up to care. Too bad they don’t understand that net income isn’t everything.

Oh yes, of course, the infamous shortage of artists’ workforce, it’s really impossible to find those pesky artists. Are you sure that you suffer from a lack of morality and ethics?

The creators tried to promote that the anime industry lacks manpower. “As an experiment to help the labor-starved anime industry, we used image generation technology for the background images of all three-minute videos!” read the title of the tweet. People have criticized this explanation, claiming that many anime creators are looking for work.

Fans even took note of the fact that the only person who helped make the AI background didn’t even get the credit it deserved. In the credits, this person was simply called a +human. The biggest irony in all this, perhaps, is that the film is about dreams, ambitions and emotions, and it was made with the help of a machine.
R were we supposed to believe that real artists couldn’t do that? Expected more from @WIT_STUDIO. The anime world must rebel after being reduced by a token. "+ person" in loans. It’s a slap in the face for how much blood, sweat and tears anime artists spend their entire lives honing their craft. pic.twitter.com/qE2Psgr40t
