Neighbors say the area is “going downhill” after one person was killed in Toledo.

TOLEDO, OH (WTVG) — Toledo police are investigating a homicide that took place early Friday at the corner of Berdan and Watson streets.

The Toledo Police Department said they are still trying to figure out who was involved and why. Neighbors told 13abc that the violence is only getting worse.

Christine Kerchs said she has lived in the area since the 80s and has watched the community change over the decades.

“The neighbors used to talk to each other, now nobody talks to anyone,” she said.

Kerkhs added that the violence only started recently. “I used to sit on this porch and crochet a lot, nothing more. I stay at home and do it.”

Kors also told 13abc that this was the first shooting she had seen so close to her home.

“It scares me. Even my husband tells me to just stay at home,” she said.

Police told 13abc that there are still many unknown factors surrounding the shooting. The TPD asks that anyone with any information call or send text messages to people who prevent crime.
