Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green is treated for stage 4 cancer

Modest Mouse drummer and co-founder Jeremiah Green has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The group announced Green’s diagnosis on their official Instagram on Tuesday evening.

“Some of you may have already heard, but I thought it would be nice to hear the news directly from our camp,” wrote lead singer Isaac Brock. “Jeremiah was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Everything seems to be going smoothly and bringing positive results. Jeremiah, like me, believes in the power of positive energy, so if you would be so kind as to send “good vibes” (quoting Jeremiah) towards Jeremy and his family, that would be great.”

Green’s mother, Carol Namatame, also asked fans for “healing vibes” in a Facebook post over Christmas, writing that her son is “fighting stage 4 cancer” but “so strong, so brave and hanging on there.” DJ KEXP Marco Collins added in a Facebook post that Green dropped out of the band’s recent tour to undergo chemotherapy. It is unclear what type of cancer Green was diagnosed with.

“Despite being diagnosed as stage 4, his prognosis is good,” Collins wrote. “Also, his oncologist is a big MM fan (so he has it in the corner!)”
