Mentor-on-the-Lake police are giving away free steering wheel locks as Hyundai thefts rise

MENTOR-ON-LAKE, Ohio. As the number of Hyundai thefts continues to rise, the Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department is only giving out free steering wheel locks to Hyundai drivers, according to the department.

In order to get a steering wheel lock, you need to provide the following:

  • driver license
  • Proof of residence in Mentor-on-the-Lake.
  • Confirmation of registration

Residents who own a 2009-2021 Hyundai with a physical key to start the ignition are eligible and must enter the station located at 5860 Andrews Road.
