Maryland woman convicted of distributing child pornography
21 March. A Maryland woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography, the Northern District of New York Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday, March 22.
In addition to jail time, 30-year-old Shelby Ortiz has been sentenced to 20 years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender, a media report said.
When Ortiz pleaded guilty in October 2022, she admitted to subjecting an approximately seven-month-old boy to oral contact with a penis, knowing that the intercourse she was performing was being videotaped, the report said. She also confessed that on the same day she had sexual intercourse, she knowingly distributed a video to a person residing in Florida with whom she engaged in a dominant/submissive sexual relationship online and over the phone.
The case was investigated by the US Homeland Security Service, the Oneonta City Police Department and the State Police, and Assistant US Attorney Michael D. Ghadarian filed a criminal case under the Safe Childhood Project, the report said.
The Safe Childhood Project is a nationwide initiative to protect children from online exploitation and abuse, the report said. For more information visit
