Marjorie Taylor Green to present bill to audit US aid to Ukraine

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Georgia) said Thursday she plans to introduce a bill to audit billions of dollars of US aid to Ukraine in its year-long war with Russia.

“This will force Congress to audit the American people,” Green said Thursday in an interview with Tucker Carlson Tonight. “And that’s exactly what the American people need, an audit of Ukraine, because we have no idea where all this money is going.”

Green said she plans to submit a resolution on the investigation to the House of Representatives on Friday, the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. An inquiry resolution is a method by which the House of Representatives can request information from the executive branch.

The Georgia Republican noted that she introduced the same resolution in the last Congress and won the full support of the Republicans. However, the Republican Party did not have a majority in the House of Representatives at the time.

“I am introducing this resolution and I expect my fellow Republicans to support it,” Greene said.

She also accused the Biden administration of being “so out of touch with the desires of the American people that it’s literally going to drag us into World War III.”

“The American people don’t have bipartisan support for a war in Ukraine that does nothing for Americans other than making them pay for it,” Greene added.

According to a Fox News poll released Thursday, 50 percent of Americans believe the US should support Ukraine “for as long as it takes” to win the war with Russia, while 46 percent think the time frame should be limited.

Republicans in the poll were more likely to say US support should be limited, with 61% saying the end should be near. Sixty-six percent of Democrats said the aid should continue until the end of the war.

House Republicans, including Green, have previously said they plan to limit aid to Ukraine. In the run-up to the midterm elections in November, Green vowed that “not a penny will go to Ukraine” in the GOP majority.

“The only border they care about is Ukraine, not America’s southern border,” Green said of the Democrats at a campaign rally. “Under the Republicans, Ukraine will not get a penny. Our country comes first. They don’t care about our borders and our people.”
