Man wanted for racist egg-throwing on San Francisco Muni bus

San Francisco police are looking for a man accused last week of yelling anti-Chinese slurs while throwing eggs at Asian passengers on a Muni bus.

An incident that race car driver Michelle Young (@UntappedMich) filmed and shared on Twitterreportedly happened on bus 38 near Geary and Divisadero streets on Thursday.

“San Francisco @BART just now. A guy came up with a bunch of eggs and started yelling at me and the Asian woman next to me, “Stupid Chinese bitch,” wrote Young, who came from New York.

Passengers allegedly got an egg in their hair. Young’s video shows the suspect throwing an egg at a man who tried to intervene.

“He ends up throwing it at a pretty fast pace, almost like a baseball,” she told ABC7 News.

The man got off at the bus stop, but he hadn’t finished yet. He allegedly threw eggs through the open windows.

“All the women around me had eggs in their hair, there were eggshells everywhere,” Young told NBC Bay Area.

She said she caught a man throwing the last egg at her window, which was closed. She also general that she managed to wash her hair only after seven hours.

According to Yang, the recent incident marked the third time she has been subjected to an act of hate in a third city since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon learning of Yang’s experience, Wendy Zhang, another Muni rider, accused the same man of throwing food at her in December 2022.

“He started shouting racist slurs at Asians, especially Chinese,” Zhang told KRON 4.

Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) investigation “completely unacceptable” incidents.

On Friday it swore bring the perpetrators of such “heinous attacks” to justice to the fullest extent of the law.
