Man wanted by CSP arrested

March 5 – A man is arrested who is wanted by government troops for allegedly fleeing a bus stop and nearly hitting a soldier with his car.

Kentucky State Police reports say Cornelius F. Harris, 37, of the 2900 block of Legion Park Drive, was arrested by military personnel at 9:35 p.m. Friday night at the Wingfield Inn and Suites on West Parrish Avenue.

On Thursday, Harris is believed to have fled the stop where he was a passenger on US 60. Harris allegedly got into the car while the driver was being checked for violations and drove away, nearly hitting a serviceman. Harris is believed to have crashed the car at the Kentucky 54 exit and then is believed to have fled the scene with a ride from an acquaintance.

KSP reports say a trooper was patrolling Harris and found him and a woman in a car in the parking lot of the Wingfield Inn. Reports say Harris got out of the car, threw the gun under a nearby truck, and was arrested.

Reports say that a large amount of cash was found in Harris’ possession, and “a large amount of suspected drugs and paraphernalia was found in the car.”

Harris was charged with first-degree controlled substance (cocaine) trafficking, first-degree controlled substance (meth) trafficking, and marijuana trafficking (between 8 ounces and five pounds).

These charges were raised to one felony level because Harris was found with a firearm.

Harris was also charged with senseless endangering in the first degree (cop) and running/evading police in the first degree (motor vehicle).

Harris was held Saturday at the Davis County Detention Center.
