Man killed in shooting outside restaurant near Stone Creek Mall

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – A man died Thursday in a shooting that occurred near the Stone Creek Mall Wednesday night, according to the Hamilton County coroner’s office.

According to Jim Love of the Coleraine Township Police Department, the shooting occurred around 5:00 pm behind a Raising Cane’s store on Coleraine Avenue.

The officer was in the area, heard the shots and reacted.

The officer found a man at the scene with a “pretty serious gunshot wound,” Love said.

According to Love, the man was taken to the medical center of the University of California.

“We don’t believe in a random event. We think it was very targeted,” Love said. “And especially knowing this place and where it was, we want to reassure the public that this was a very targeted situation. It was not a random act.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coleraine Township Police Department at (513) 385-7504.
