Kenneth Ferguson to be inducted into Cooper HS Hall of Fame

Ferguson will be the 88th Hall of Fame member at Cooper.

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Cooper High School will honor attorney Kenneth Ferguson, Class of 1970, as the 88th member of the Cooper Hall of Fame during a homecoming week assembly at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the CHS auditorium.

Ferguson is a partner in the Austin office of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP. Licensed in both Texas and New Mexico, he is a member of the firm’s drug and medical device and tort and product liability practice groups. With more than three decades of litigation and state and federal trial experience in his practice fields, Ferguson is recognized as an expert attorney who has defended clients in high-profile national mass tort litigation.

His client list includes Fortune 500 companies such as the Chrysler Group, pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturers and the talc supplier to Johnson & Johnson, whom he defended in the Johnson & Johnson talcum powder case.

Ferguson has also litigated personal injury cases and health care liability matters in Texas state courts, as well as consumer protection statute cases involving the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act.

After graduating from Cooper, where he served as vice president of his senior class, Ferguson graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas School of Law. He was named the 2022 Lawyer of the Year in product liability litigation by the Best Lawyers in America program. Ferguson is married with three sons and one granddaughter.

Friday’s assembly will also include performances by student groups and introductions of this year’s Cooper homecoming queen nominees. The queen will be crowned at halftime of Friday night’s varsity football game versus Amarillo Palo Duro. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium.
