Jason Sudeikis and ‘Theda Lasso’ cast to visit the White House

The cast of the popular Ted Lasso show is expected to visit the White House on Monday to discuss mental health efforts with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

The audience will include Emmy-winning comedian and actor Jason Sudeikis, who plays the show’s eponymous football coach, according to Apple TV+.

Pandemic-era shows often include themes of optimism, kindness, and determination. The character Dani Rojas, a professional soccer player coached by Lasso, said: “Football is life!” into a catchphrase in 2021.

Biden has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into federal, state, and local efforts to better deal with American mental health issues.

Calling the state of the nation’s mental health a crisis after the pandemic limited communication and forced many workers and children to stay at home, the president last year advocated for taxpayers to invest heavily in solutions.

The administration has allocated federal money to expand school-based mental health treatment and train first responders on how to respond to people in mental health emergencies.
