Illinois University Pension System Posts Request for Proposals for Executive Search Firm

The University of Illinois Pension System, Champaign is looking for an executive search firm to help the board of directors find a new chief investment officer to succeed. Douglas S. Wesleywho is retiring at the end of this year.

The pension system, which oversees $22.9 billion of defined benefit plan assets and $3.3 billion of defined contribution plan assets, posted a request for proposals on its website for a firm to help its board of directors hire a new IT -director, which will start sometime in the fall of 2023. Beth A. Spencer said in an email.

Mr. Wesley, who announced his intention to retire later this year at the February 2 SURS meeting, has been CIO since March 2017, when he replaced outgoing CIO Daniel L. Allen. Prior to that, Mr. Wesley was SURS Deputy CIO since 2005.

The RFP is available on the SURS website. Proposals must be submitted by 4:30 pm CST on March 17th. The selection is expected in April.
