HSBC Files Multiple Patents for NFTs and the Metaverse
HSBC, a world-famous multinational bank, has officially filed trademark applications related to NFTs and the Metaverse. This is reported by Mike Kondounis, who previously wrote on Twitter.
The transnational corporation filed them with the US Trademark and Patent Office on December 15th.
Of course, there is nothing surprising about patents. Back in November, the launch of the Orion blockchain for bond tokenization was announced. A year earlier, HSBC and Wells Fargo announced the use of blockchain for Forex trading settlements.
As for the intentions behind these trademarks, the company is looking to develop a range of virtual assets such as bank, cash, check and debit cards. Authenticated as an NFT, it can help ensure users own their financial assets while reducing fraud.
In addition, the bank intends to host an online platform to provide financial information, security solutions and online communities for new and existing digital asset holders.
