Fort Worth man shot in a drive-by is in stable condition; no suspects in custody

On Saturday evening, a Fort Worth man was shot and killed from a drive-by, according to police.

Fort Worth police have been dispatched to a private residence near the 2600 block of Prospect Avenue in connection with an adult male victim who sustained a gunshot wound, police said in a statement.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found the victim and found out that it was a shooting from a passing car. The victim stated that he was in the house when the suspect, an unidentified adult male, drove up to him in a car, took out a firearm and fired several shots from it, once wounding the victim in the right leg.

The suspect then fled the scene in a car.

The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for medical treatment. According to police, he is in a stable condition.

There are no suspects in custody and the Gun Violence Investigation Unit has requested assistance in investigating the incident.

The Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar also responded.
