Former NFL player Zach Stacy sentenced to jail for assaulting ex-girlfriend

Former NFL player Zach Stacy was sentenced to six months in jail in Florida on Monday night, more than a year after a video of him assaulting an ex-girlfriend surfaced.

The court record revealed that 31-year-old Stacey was taken into custody by Orange County District Judge Mark Blechman shortly after pleading guilty to battery.

The one-time jogger was arrested on November 18, 2019 after ex-girlfriend Kristin Evans posted on Facebook a video from two security cameras in her home and asked viewers to “please share” because at this stage, Stacey “hadn’t been apprehended yet.”

The footage shows Stacy punching the woman in the head and throwing her at the TV as their young son lies on the couch next to them.

Court records showed that the footage was used as evidence, over the defense’s objections, before Stacey pleaded guilty.

On Tuesday, prosecutors and Stacey’s defense lawyer could not be immediately available for comment.

The Vanderbilt alum spent two seasons with the St. Louis Rams (2013-14) and one with the New York Jets in 2015.

After retiring from the NFL due to injuries, Stacey tried out for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2018 before making the American Football Alliance’s Memphis Express in 2019.
