Five people hospitalized after shooting on Los Angeles beach, police say

At least five people were injured in a shooting on Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro, California on Saturday night, authorities said. All five were hospitalized, with at least two in critical condition the morning after the shooting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The condition of the other two people who were shot was listed as serious when the LAPD received an update on the victims, a police department spokesman said in a statement to CBS News on Sunday. Authorities say the suspects were driving a silver sedan. After they fled the San Pedro beach where the shooting took place, four of the five injured were taken to a local hospital by Los Angeles firefighters, according to the LAPD. Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and City Councilman Tim McOsker said in a joint statement. Twitter that they were “outraged and saddened” by the shooting in San Pedro.
