FBI searched Biden’s Delaware vacation home for classified documents

Feb. 1 (UPI) — FBI agents have raided President Joe Biden’s vacation home in Rehoboth, Delaware, as part of an ongoing investigation into classified documents, officials told some news outlets Wednesday.

CBS News, NBC News and Politico Sources cited say federal investigators arrived at the residence on Wednesday morning with several black cars pulling up to the site.

Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal attorney, confirmed the search in a brief statement.

“In accordance with standard Justice Department procedures, in the interest of operational security and integrity, it sought to complete this work without prior public notice, and we agreed to cooperate,” Bauer told media.

“Today’s search is another step in the Justice Department’s thorough and timely process, which we will continue to fully support and facilitate. We will have more information at the conclusion of today’s search.”

CBS News reported that no search warrant was issued, and the FBI and the Justice Department declined to comment.

Reports surfaced Tuesday that the FBI raided Biden’s former office at the Pennsylvania Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, DC. This was not previously reported.

Biden’s lawyers discovered about 20 classified documents previously found at the Biden Center in Pennsylvania and the president’s personal residence in Delaware. The documents have since been retrieved by the National Archives and Records Administration.

Interest in classified documents increased when the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to obtain classified documents. Lawyers for former Vice President Mike Pence said several classified materials were found at his home in a suburb of Indianapolis.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to conduct various investigations.
