Fatal shooting incidents involving minors in Dallas are on the rise, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia had a meeting with locals to discuss further steps in preventing fatal shooting incidents

Dallas, Texas – The number of fatal shooting incidents in the Dallas area is on the rise recently, but what is more concerning for parents is the rising number of fatal shooting incident involving minors.

For that particular reason, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia had a meeting with concerned citizens in East Oak Cliff on Monday, an opportunity where residents were able to express their ideas in reducing the number of violent crime incidents in the future.

Dallas Police Chief said that in general, the number of violent crimes in the city of Dallas is down, but the number of homicides so far reached 105. Sixteen of these incidents were teenagers. Since last Friday, three homicides took place in Dallas and two of them were 14 and 15-year-olds.

The police chief was at the Cummings Recreation Center Monday along with Councilmember Carolyn King Arnold to listen and talk about the issues.

Chief Garcia is hopeful that the partnership between the local police and the local communities can definitely help in reducing crime even further in the Dallas area.

“We need to work collectively, and we need to work together as a community and a department,” he said. “It’s not just our crime plan. We need to revest in our neighborhoods.”

Some local residents expressed their concerns about their teenage children and grandchildren. Others warned that police should be extremely cautious with people who are just out of prison as it seems that in many cases well-known offenders are being involved in serious crimes over and over again.
