Dayton man and Portsmouth woman arrested on charges of drug possession after drug seizure

Portsmouth Police Chief Debbie Brewer and Syoto County Sheriff David Torowman announce that a Dayton, Ohio man and a Portsmouth, Ohio woman have been arrested on drug charges following an investigation by the Southern Ohio Narcotics Task Force.
Approximately at 17:49. On December 27, 2022, task force officers, assisted by the Portsmouth SWAT Police Department, executed a drug-related search warrant at the home of 25-year-old Hope Bentley, located at 1304 Union Street Apartment B, Portsmouth, Ohio.
While searching the house, officers seized about 1,075 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 14 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a digital scale, sandwich bags, $613 in cash, one loaded firearm, and further evidence of drug trafficking. The estimated street value of the seized suspect drugs is $70,000.
Hope Bentley was arrested and charged with drug dealing and drug possession, both first-degree felony. Reginald Langford, 29, of Dayton, Ohio, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession, both felony 1st degree, and possession of a weapon while in a disability, felony 3rd degree.
Both Bentley and Langford were placed in the Sayoto County Jail and were due to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 9:00 am.
The case will eventually be referred to the Skioto County Attorney’s Office for submission to the Skioto County Grand Jury for additional felony charges.
