Columbus homicide detectives investigate incident that left baby in critical condition

Columbus police said officers arrived at the scene on the 300 block of Glenwood Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after reports that the child was not breathing.

Columbus Police Commander Mark Denner told 10TV that a two-year-old girl was found at the scene and rushed to the National Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

The homicide unit was called to the hospital just before 4:15 a.m. Sunday due to a suspicious injury and a possible case of neglect, according to police. When the staff arrived, the hospital staff said that the girl was admitted in cardiac arrest. She also had visible injuries.

The girl is not expected to recover, police said.

Denner said other children living in the home would be taken to Franklin County Child Protective Services while the homicide unit investigated the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Squad at 614-645-4730 or the Central Ohio Crime Squad at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
