Coleraine police identify victim of ‘targeted attack’
CITY COLRAINE, Ohio (WXIX). Coleraine police identified the victim killed in what they called a “targeted attack” on Wednesday.
Rodney Sean Harris Jr., 19, died Thursday following a shooting outside the Stone Creek Mall the night before, according to the Coleraine Police Department.
According to Jim Love of the Coleraine Township Police Department, the shooting took place around 5:00 pm behind a Raising Cane’s store on Coleraine Avenue.
The officer was in the area, heard the shots and reacted.
The officer found Harris Jr. with a “pretty serious gunshot wound,” Love said at the scene.
He was taken to the University of California Medical Center but later died.
“We don’t believe in a random event. We think it was very targeted,” Love said. “And especially knowing this place and where it was, we want to reassure the public that this was a very targeted situation. It was not a random act.”
Police say the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coleraine Township Police Department at (513) 385-7504.
