Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb Reflects on 2022, Police in Cleveland, and What Next Year Will Bring

CLEVELAND. Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, who is in office for just a few days to one year, recently sat down to speak with News 5 host Rob Powers about the ups and downs in City Hall at the moment.

Powers began by saying that “running for mayor is not the same as being mayor,” to which Bibb replied, “Yes, it is.”

Powers: Is that all you thought?

Bibb: “More.”

Powers: “In a good way or in a bad way?”

Bibb: “Great. I sincerely believe that this will be the most important and best job of my life.”

They talked about education and how the mayor thinks about moving into his second year in office. Bibb also believes that the United States is entering a post-COVID era ripe for midsize cities, and Cleveland could lead the way.

“I’m excited because everyone is talking about the East Coast and the West Coast… but it’s time to talk about America’s North Coast,” Bibb said.
