Chris Cuomo says he’s ’emotionally and psychologically battered’ after being fired by CNN in new interview

  • Chris Cuomo spoke about his firing from CNN on the No BS News Hour podcast last week.
  • The host received high-profile interviews on his new show, but said: “I will never be who I was.”
  • Cuomo still says he considers CNN “the best news organization in the world,” according to the New York Post.

Chris Cuomo spoke out after being fired from CNN over a year ago, saying “I’ll never be who I was” in an interview on the No BS News Hour podcast last week.

“I’m emotionally and mentally beaten and changed by what I’ve been through,” Cuomo told podcast hosts Charlie LeDuff and Karen Dumas, according to the New York Post on Saturday. “My show is different because I’m different, not because I was in some leftist bunker.”

Cuomo was fired from CNN in December 2021 after helping his brother and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo deal with a string of public sexual harassment allegations that led to the governor’s resignation.

The former CNN host now hosts the flagship primetime show on cable network NewsNation, where he recently landed high-profile interviews with the likes of Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

Cuomo told LeDuff and Dumas that he was not given a chance to say goodbye to his employees after CNN abruptly fired him, the Post reported. But the news anchor still said he thought CNN was “the best news organization in the world.”

He also claimed that he never influenced news coverage of his brother after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced.

“I never did anything to manipulate media coverage of my brother,” he told the podcast host.

Cuomo added that the media backlash he experienced after being fired from CNN has changed the way he hosts his new show on NewsNation, The Post reports.

“I will never be number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on some influential media list. It suits me,” he told LeDuff and Dumas.
