Celebrity-sponsored virtual reality arcade opens at The Rim in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Exciting gameplay is coming to San Antonio.

The company announced this week that Sandbox VR at The Rim is scheduled to open on March 17th.

The company calls itself a “full-body virtual reality experience” that provides total immersion. Watch the video above to see how it works.

At Sandbox VR, people are given virtual reality headsets, haptic vests, and motion sensors on their wrists and ankles.

The groups then go to different rooms to play in virtual reality. Four separate rooms, called holodecks, are available for groups of four to six people.

Groups can choose between six games: Deadwood Valley, Deadwood Mansion, Curse of Davy Jones, Amber Sky 2088, Star Trek: Discovery, and UFL: Unbound Fighting League.

After the game, the groups are given a brief overview of their experience.

The price is $50 per person from Monday to Thursday and $55 per person from Friday to Sunday. Highlights video is included in the admission price.

People who book tickets before March 16 can play with a discount of $39 per person.

This is San Antonio’s first location for Sandbox VR, backed by Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Will Smith.

“This is the perfect city for our newest Sandbox VR location,” founder and CEO Steve Zhao said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to add our world-class VR experience to RIM’s proven entertainment lineup.”
