Calling all playwrights!!

Arlington Theater Executive Producer Stephen D. Morris has launched a playwriting competition as part of the theatre’s 50th anniversary celebrations. This year we are highlighting new work for our Pinnacle Bank Game Reading Club. Morris is thrilled to be able to give voice to emerging writers in the community.

The Arlington Theater is looking for a wide range of selections representing the entire community. Under-represented voters and BIPOC authors are strongly encouraged to submit their work.

Plays are accepted from March 23 to May 23, 2023. Any topic is welcome, but exclusively graphic material will not be considered. This year’s winning play will be announced on July 27, and a dramatized reading will be presented at the Pinnacle Bank Reading Theater Club on September 22 and 23 this year. The play will be staged and staged by theater professionals, and the playwright will be invited to participate in the conversation after the performance.

Submission rules are simple: new works must have a standard game design with a cast of no more than 6 characters, approximately 1 or 2 acts and a total duration of 90 minutes.
