Buonasera Cucina To Replace Trattoria Tiramisu In San Diego’s La Mesa

October 6, 2022

The experienced San Diego restaurateur behind such concepts as Farmer’s Table and Farmer’s Bottega is gearing up to launch a new Italian bar & restaurant dubbed Buonasera Cucina in the La Mesa space that housed Tiramisu Trattoria for nearly two decades.

Growing up near Palermo, Sicily, Alberto Morreale has been cooking since age 14 and always dreamed of becoming a master chef. Alberto has now been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and owns multiple San Diego restaurants, including Farmer’s Bottega and Farmer’s Table locations in La Mesa, Bay Park, Little Italy, Tijuana, and Chula Vista. In late 2020, Morreale opened Smokey & The Brisket, a motorcycle and car-themed barbecue restaurant sited in the 4,600 square-foot standalone building that last housed Lake Murray Café in La Mesa. Morreale is also in the process of opening Valle de Guadalupe-inspired Alcatraz Bar & Grill on the corner of La Mesa Boulevard and Palm Avenue in La Mesa and The Seventh House tarot-inspired brunch restaurant in North Park.

Morreale recently leased the La Mesa Boulevard unit only a block from a location of his Farmer’s Table restaurant that was occupied by Trattoria Tiramisu from 2004 until it closed in late September. The space will receive an interior renovation and open later this year as Buonasera Cucina. Expect a menu of classic Italian dishes and a bar serving local and Italian beers and a curated wine list.

Buonasera Cucina is expected to open as early as year’s end at 8273 La Mesa Boulevard in San Diego’s East County city of La Mesa.
