Britney Spears tweeted that fans “went too far” after they reportedly called the police to check on her for deleting her Instagram account with 41 million followers this week.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department visited Britney Spears’ Thousands Oaks, Calif., residence for a health check after several fans called their office on Tuesday, according to TMZ.

Even though Spears tried to defuse the situation, some of her fans were deeply concerned, especially after she changed her Instagram name to River Red before going out.

AT her first public statement After the incident, the singer denied that her followers have anything to worry about. Spears said she believed the police came to her home because of “prank calls” that went “too far.”

“I love and adore my fans, but this time it went too far and my privacy was invaded,” she wrote in a tweet that garnered almost 30,000 likes. “The police never entered my house and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no problem and left immediately.”

Spears added that she felt “gaslit and bullied” by the media portraying her and the incident in a bad light.

The post received a wave of support, with hundreds of people wishing her well and trusting her assurances. “These are not fans. These are possessed psychos who think they have the right to know every detail of your life, ”the journalist wrote. “You don’t owe anyone anything.”

As of this writing on Thursday, Spears’ account was still deactivated. Insider has also reached out to her team for comment.

The singer has already deactivated her account several times, which has not previously caused mass panic among her fans. However, a complicated legal battle over her custody in 2022 has left everyone, whether fans or anyone else, on high alert for the pop star’s well-being.
