Bridgewater appoints Christopher Palazzolo as Head of Europe for Global Sustainable Investment Partnership

Christopher Palazzolo joined Bridgewater Associates as head of the European and Global Sustainable Investment Partnership.

Mr. Palazzolo shared the news of his new position on his LinkedIn profile.

It is known that Mr. Palazzolo joined the world’s largest hedge fund with assets of $138 billion under management on February 27.

There were no further details about the position.

Mr. Palazzolo was most recently Head of Responsible Investments at AQR Capital Management, a position he left at the end of 2021. An AQR spokesperson declined to comment. As of June 30, AQR had $100 billion in assets under management.

According to Bloomberg, Bridgewater is undergoing a major overhaul. Founder Ray Dalio handed over the reins of the hedge fund less than six months ago. Now co-CEO Nir Bar Dea is working with his leadership team to increase profits, increase profitability and create new revenue streams.

The firm limits its flagship funds in terms of size, invests more money and human capital in AI and machine learning, expands in Asia and equities, and puts more emphasis on sustainability. Bloomberg also reported that the firm will begin a reorganization in the coming weeks, during which 100 jobs will be cut.
