Body of missing 36-year-old woman found in Vaikele’s apartment

January 29. Around 1:30 p.m. today, Honolulu police discovered the body of a 36-year-old woman who went missing on Thursday at Waikele’s apartment.

Jonalyn Elie was pronounced dead at 13:40. The case is currently being classified as an unattended death as detectives piece together what has happened since the family last saw her alive around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Detectives are investigating whether 46-year-old Frank Camaro, who was found dead Thursday at the Ala Moana Hotel, had anything to do with Ilae’s disappearance. Elie might have known the man’s wife.

Camaro, a litigation paralegal for over 16 years, went missing at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and was found dead in his Ala Moana hotel room around 4 p.m. Thursday. In a CrimeStoppers newsletter asking the public to help find Camaro, police said he “may be emotionally distraught.”

His case is also classified as unattended death.

In a separate bulletin, also released Thursday, police asked the public to help find Ilae, who last had contact with a family member around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to CrimeStoppers.

Ilae, who has worked at the bank for eight years, was last seen driving her brown Nissan Altima four-door sedan, which police found in the Waikele area around 11:30 am on Friday.

Camaro was an army veteran and former infantryman who served at Schofield Barracks.

According to his professional online biography, he received a Humanitarian Service Medal for his efforts during Operation Pacific Haven, which helped evacuate Kurdish refugees from Northern Iraq and resettle them in the United States.
