Blood and bloodied knife allegedly found in basement of missing mom Ana Walsh’s home
Police found blood and a damaged, bloody knife in the basement of the home of Ana Walsh, a missing Massachusetts woman whose husband is accused of allegedly interfering with investigators, authorities said Monday.
Prosecutors also said that on Jan. 2, Brian Walsh allegedly bought $450 worth of merchandise, including cleaning products, mops and tape, at a nearby Home Depot store.
Ana Walsh, a 39-year-old mother of three, was reported missing by her employer in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
In the course of this investigation into Ana Walsh’s disappearance, “the police have credible grounds for believing that her husband Brian Walsh committed the crime of misleading police investigators,” the Norfolk District Attorney’s office said Sunday.
Brian Walsh has pleaded not guilty to any of the charges of misleading police in Quincy County Court on Monday morning, as prosecutors revealed additional details of the ongoing search for Ana Walsh.
The missing woman had a plane ticket to Washington, D.C. that was supposed to leave on Wednesday, but it was not used, authorities said.
Police found no evidence that a shared car was heading to her home, prosecutors said, which was the typical way she traveled from her Cohasset home to Boston’s Logan Airport.
Brian Walsh’s lawyer said it was the husband who informed his wife’s employers of her disappearance, explaining why he was not the first to call the police.
