Baby shower in Maple Heights
MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A local volunteer organization hosted a baby shower for more than 100 women from the Maple Heights community Saturday afternoon.
Mothers-to-be and mothers with a child under 24 months of age have been invited to Abraham Lincoln Elementary School from noon to 2:00 pm to receive much-needed support in preparing or caring for their newborn babies.
The organizers also hope that this event will raise awareness about the physical aspects of pregnancy and the emotional impact on mothers.
Family and Community Engagement Coordinator Angelique Shay and Maple Heights Homeless Schools Coordinator Rosalyn Wynne teamed up to organize a community baby shower after learning that Maple Heights is among the other Cuyahoga County cities with a high infant mortality rate.
“Our families will get more than just diapers, but a wide range of sustainable information,” Shai said. “We are doing our part to combat the rising infant mortality rate.”
